June 22, 2026The Parameters That Matter in Pool Water Chemistry
Free chlorine is the principal disinfectant in pool water. They break down toxins, kill germs, and turn algae into oxygen. For outdoor pools in Dubai, the right range is typically two to four parts per million (ppm). You need more on hot, sunny days. The UV rays break down the chlorine fast.
It is important to keep the pH of pool water between 7.2 and 7.6. A pool water pH that is conducive to swimming allows the bleach to work best and does not harm pool surfaces or equipment. Low pH (below 7.2) irritates skin and eyes and causes rusting on metal parts. If the pH is above 7.8, chlorine is much less effective, and scale is more likely to form. The alkalinity must be kept between 80 and 120 ppm. This buffers the pH and keeps it from changing rapidly. If poool cleaning company in dubai doesn’t have enough alkalinity, then small additions of chemicals can really influence the pH level. CaCO₃ – For concrete and plaster pools in Dubai, the recommended level is 200 to 400 parts per million (ppm). Soft water dissolves CaCO₃; hard water deposits calcium scale on surfaces and in equipment.
Cyanuric acid is used as a stabilizer to prevent the decomposition of chlorine by UV light. In the searing sun of Dubai, outdoor pools without cyanuric acid can lose all their chlorine in hours. Shoot for 30-50 ppm. pool renovation company in dubai is short for Total Dissolved Solids. If TDS gets too high, it reduces the quality of the water and makes chemicals less effective. The answer is to mix fresh water into the pool water, making it less concentrated.
Chemical Treatment in Dubai’s Specific Conditions
Dubai’s desalinated water is naturally acidic with very low alkalinity, so when new water is added, the pools tend to become more acidic. The dust storms bring minerals, including calcium, to the surface. https://green-creation.com/swimming-pool-landscaping-in-dubai-how-to-integrate-your-pool-with-the-garden/ causes chemicals to break down faster. Salt Chlorination: The Dubai Pool Owner’s Friend
Salt chlorination systems produce chlorine from the salt dissolved in the pool water, which is typically around 3,000 parts per million (ppm). Salt chlorination means no storage or handling of concentrated chlorine chemicals. It also produces a less-harsh form of chlorine that many swimmers say is easier on their eyes and skin, and it maintains more consistent levels of chlorine than dosing by hand. Green Creation can add salt chlorination systems to existing pools or build new ones and keep the old ones running.
